I start with copper sheet metal and hand emboss your last name.

Underneath I hand stamp your wedding or anniversary date along with the individual names. This can be done for a couple or family. Some clients have no hand stamping, only a date hand stamped, only names hand stamped or both. Other's request couple names, family names or even a short phrase. We can do up to five hand stamped names. Please contact us for a special listing if you require more.

Next, I torch fire a patina onto the copper. This is like painting with a torch. I can achieve an array of colors ranging from vibrant, to more subdued hues. Each piece turns out unique and one of a kind. The large embossed letters are hand sanded to show bits and pieces of the shiny metal underneath. This gives the piece great character while contrasting with the aged look of the patina.

The copper art is then placed on a finished wood piece and set with dark finishing nails. This listing is for a sign with the natural finish with the original bark on the top and bottom. I have included a photo of another style done on dark wood with a clear varnish. You may request clear, medium or dark stain. Each is protected with a varnish. Bark is protected with a clear varnish.

This selection includes a hammered edge option as shown in the McKinney HomeBrew sign. You may choose that or the traditional straight edge that is non-hammered as shown in the other photos.

The amount of letters embossed rises in cost due to added labor, time, larger wood and copper pieces. If you require a phrase longer than 16 letters, our largest sign is found here

Please note that a phrase will have to be place on 2-3 lines. We are happy to customize.

Each sign comes with saw tooth brackets for easy hanging. These also look great in a picture easel. If you prefer twine or wire for hanging, just let us know when you order and we are happy to customize.

This makes a wonderful Christmas Gift, wedding for both indoor outdoor setting, anniversary, birthday, housewarming or just because.

A great deal of time and care are taken when creating your special, one of a kind piece. Please allow from 7 to 14 days for creation and shipment. During very busy periods please allow up to 2 weeks.

Please let us know
1) the name you want embossed
2) the date and names for the hand stamping only if you wish for hand stamping
3) if you prefer a different stain other than natural with varnish
4) if you prefer a different way of hanging other than brackets like wire or twine

Please note, you may also choose a phrase and we also have upgraded signs that are larger including those that have a special symbol, logo or design . . . La Cocina, Welcome, Man Cave etc. The link for a short phrase is here I have included a photograph of one done for a chicken coop The Copper Henny which included extra coats of wood protectant as requested by the client since they were placing it outdoors. Please note, if you choose to place your sign outdoors, you will have to re-coat it with a varnish or protectant over both copper and wood every year or so. Copper does darken and react if a varnish is put over it.
