I start with copper sheet metal and hand emboss the font of your choosing. The embossing is all hand tooled and great care, time and attention is taken to give it depth and texture. Last name, favorite phrase, etc.

Underneath I hand stamp your wedding or anniversary date along with the individual names. Hand stamping is optional. In lieu of a date, we have done coordinates for a special place, location of wedding, location of met place, location of anniversary celebration, location of honeymoon etc.

Hand stamped names can be done for a couple or family. Some clients have no hand stamping, only a date hand stamped, only names hand stamped or both. Other's request couple names, family names or even a short phrase. We can do up to five hand stamped names. Please contact us for a special listing if you require more.

Next, I torch fire a patina onto the copper. This is like painting with a torch. I can achieve an array of colors ranging from vibrant, to more subdued hues. Each piece turns out unique and one of a kind. The large embossed letters are hand sanded to show bits and pieces of the shiny metal underneath. This gives the piece great character while contrasting with the aged look of the patina.

The copper art is then placed on a finished wood piece and set with finishing nails. This listing is for a sign on the natural wood with the original bark on the top and bottom. You may request natural, medium or dark stain. We also have colored stains as the gray shown in Wing sign. Colors include antiqued white, aqua blue, navy blue, or gray.

You may choose the amount of letters for the embossing. This is usually the last name, a phrase, a place or even a store name. We have done a homebrew sign, a vacation home sign called "Journey's Reward". Note that all signs requiring more than 8 letters are done on a larger piece of wood.

I am able to torch fire two types of finishes. The Old World muted has more subtle, earthy antiqued hues. The vibrant has brighter reddish and violet hues for a more modern copper patina. The Wing and Wharff sign are the Old World muted and the Haver sign is an examples of Vibrant and modern.

Each sign comes with saw tooth brackets for easy hanging. These also look great in a picture easel. If you prefer a different way of hanging like wire or twine, just let us know in note to seller.

A great deal of time and care are taken when creating your special, one of a kind piece. Please allow up to 7 days for creation and shipment.
